Avenues at the Moment
Introducing J-Term 2024-25
We are thrilled to launch our third year of J-Term this week. For those new to our community, J-Term has transitioned to a single, focused mini-term in June, offering students opportunities to engage deeply with hands-on, real-world learning experiences. As always, J-Term unites Avenues campuses around the globe in a common experience that connects students and families to one another and to the world beyond the campus. This year’s program builds on the success of previous years while reflecting thoughtful changes inspired by feedback from parents, students, and colleagues.
This year, we continue to offer:
- Campus exchange: Families have the opportunity to join New York campus or welcome families from New York to Shenzhen
- Co-lab: Students engage in service learning within our local communities while developing their knowledge of global-scale problems
- Global Journey: Students cultivate their global mindset through place-based learning opportunities around the world.
Please watch out for more details about this year’s J-Term program offerings, including some great Global Journeys options for students in grades 6–12 in January.
J-Term Parent Information Sessions
Come and learn about the J-Term of 2024-25 school year by joining us in the following events. We will share about June programs to support families in making informed decisions. Following this information session, a coffee chat will be hosted. Families who participated in J-Term at the Shenzhen campus and other Avenues campuses last year will share about their experiences and perspectives.

Celebration of Learning
The time has come for us to celebrate all the learning that has happened this semester. We invite you to attend your child’s Celebration of Learning on January 21. This event is an opportunity for students to share their learning journey with you and to celebrate how far they have come and all they have learned.
Middle Grades Updates
Reminder on Checking Vision Screening Results
A reminder for all parents to review the vision screening results for this semester.
Please use the following methods to check and address any abnormal results:
- Search the WeChat miniprogramt “深圳市近视防控中心 (Shenzhen Myopia Prevention and Control Center)”. Fill in the student’s passport number and student’s full name to view the result. The school has provided reports of abnormal screening results to the students. If you receive a printed report or find abnormal results online, please take your child to the nearest tertiary hospital for a follow-up examination promptly.
- Students who took the day off and did not take the test can go to Huaxia Eye Hospital for a make-up test from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 14:00–17:00 p.m. Please bring the student's valid ID and provide the school name and class name to the front desk once you arrive.

Upper Grades Mastery Project Fair

Upper Grades students will have their Mastery Project Fair in the afternoon of January 14. We cordially invite parents to the Mastery Project Fair, a celebration of our students' achievements and a testament to their growth within the Mastery Program. Join us to witness the creativity and depth of understanding they've developed across various subjects. This event is not only a showcase but also a platform for constructive feedback, inspiring other students, and fostering a strong community.
The fair will showcase the following projects:

- G11 - 9 individual projects
- G12 - 16 individual projects
