Primary Division Updates
Dear Families,
It was lovely to see each of you this week at school for Parent Teacher Conferences. We hope the conferences gave you a clear pictures of your student’s accomplishments and areas for growth. Together, we can work to help our students achieve or even exceed proficiency.
To determine if the conferences have achieved their intended goals, we invite you to take a minute and share your feedback with us through the survey below.
What's Next
At Avenues, goal setting is an important practice that helps students take ownership of how they will work towards growth. After a conference, it is natural to set goals and want to make changes and improvements within you home too! When setting new goals with your child, we encourage you to think of the following:
DNA of a Strong Goal
It’s sticky.
Could your child, without looking at a piece of paper, what they’re working towards right now? Does it get them excited?
It will have an impact.
Could your child tell you how what they’re working on will impact their learning? Their lives?
It’s challenging.
Would your child tell you, if they were being totally honest, that they sometimes doubt they might achieve this goal? What would their confidence level in achieving it be?
It’s clear what success will look like.
Could your child tell you how they’ll know if they achieved the goal or not?
We hope that your home will also feel the spirit of goal setting with the desire to constantly strive for growth and improvement.
Warmly,
The Primary Division Leadership Team
