Avenues at the Moment
Introducing J-Term 2024-25
Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to launch our third year of J-Term this week. For those new to our community, J-Term has transitioned to a single, focused three-week mini-term in June, offering students opportunities to engage deeply with hands-on, real-world learning experiences. As always, J-Term unites Avenues campuses around the globe in a common experience that connects students and families to one another and to the world beyond the campus. This year’s program builds on the success of previous years while reflecting thoughtful changes inspired by feedback from parents, students, and colleagues.
This year, we continue to offer:
Newly added: This year, domestic trip outside of Guangdong has been added on top of all the offerings from last year. By engaging in meaningful service projects, students will collaborate with local organizations and communities, addressing real-world challenges while developing empathy, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Please watch out for more details about this year’s J-Term program offerings in January.

Primary Division Updates
Dear Primary Division Families,
As we head out to the winter break, we hope you take this time to rest and decompress as a family. Research has shown the importance of cognitive rest for brains in the learning journey. Brains that are overloaded and tired tend to recall less information, easily fall into emotional dysregulation and struggle with cognitive loads. Rest is essential for learning.
In the book Burnout: the Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle, the authors propose 7 research-based practices proven to reduce stress and give the brain rest. Here are some things you can try during your break:
May you have a restful and meaningful time over the break!
