Dear University Town Families,

As we begin a new school year, we’re filled with joy and anticipation as we welcome new families into our community. With more than 60 families now joining us from University Town, I’m deeply grateful for the warmth and strength this shared connection brings. Reflecting on the past year, the launch of the Open.Scholar lectures stands out as a truly memorable milestone. I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to the 11 parent scholars who took the lead in opening doors to new ideas and fields for our students. This spirit of collaboration is what makes the Avenues community so special: when we come together, we expand what’s possible for our children.

This affirms once again the original vision behind Avenues’ decision to take root in University Town: to build a learning environment deeply connected to the community—one that encourages the sharing of knowledge and resources between K–12 education and higher education. Today, we are turning that vision into reality together. None of this would be possible without the trust, support, and insight you have shared with us. As we step into a new school year, I look forward to continuing this journey alongside you.

With that, I’m pleased to introduce the detailed plan for the 2025–2026 Avenues Educator Program:

Official Launch: The Avenues Scholar Directory!

Background: Parents in our University Town community come from a wide range of cutting-edge fields—from science and technology to the humanities, arts, and engineering. This wealth of professional expertise is one of the most unique strengths of our community. As our upper-grade students dive deeper into their Mastery Projects, many are exploring different fields of interest and seeking real-world insights and inspiration. To better connect them with the expertise within our community, we are excited to officially launch the Avenues Scholar Directory.

We warmly invite each parent scholar to join us on campus in September to record a short video sharing the following:

  • An introduction to your academic or professional field
  • Emerging trends and opportunities in your industry
  • Your advice for young people exploring future pathways

These videos will form a dynamic, open directory of resources designed to support Avenues students as they:

  • Gain a clear and practical understanding of your field
  • Receive expert insights to inform and enrich their Mastery Projects
  • Discover potential academic and career pathways aligned with their interests

We are truly grateful for your willingness to share. This project will serve as a powerful window through which our students can see and explore the world beyond the classroom. To participate, please click this link below and submit your information by August 30. Recordings will take approximately 15 minutes. You're welcome to prepare your script in advance—we’ll provide a teleprompter, and our team will be on hand to guide and support you throughout the process.

Open.Scholar Continues with More Inspiring Sessions!

In the new school year, we’re excited to continue our monthly Open.Scholar lectures. This year, Open.Scholar will be open to Avenues students in Grades 9–12. Our goal is to create more in-depth and thought-provoking learning experiences for our Upper Division students through focused and well-designed sessions. To better fit students’ schedules, all lectures will take place on Fridays from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM, with a total duration of 45 minutes.

For each session, Avenues will provide:

  • Full support: venue, equipment, promotion, and event coordination
  • Flexible formats: lecture, workshop, roundtable discussion—defined by you; sessions may be conducted in either English or Chinese
  • Targeted audience: primarily aimed at Avenues students in Grades 9–12

Click link to submit your preferred lecture month and topic ideas, and we’ll be in touch to discuss further details.
