Primary Division Updates

Dear Primary Division Families,
This week, our campus truly came alive with the launch of J-Term. Students across the primary division dove into meaningful investigations centered on the rights of the child.

  • Grade 1 students explored themes of shelter and activism, thinking about safe homes and learning how to use their voices for positive change.
  • Grade 2 focused on culture through games, inviting in their families to share their childhood games.
  • Grade 3 took on survival and physical health, with hands-on activities about health, safety, and staying active.
  • Grades 4 and 5 engaged in thoughtful discussions and projects around the right to a quality education, reflecting on their own learning journeys.

Adding to the excitement, we welcomed about 30 visiting families from Avenues New York campus. Their presence added new energy and perspective to our community. It has been inspiring to see our students, teachers, and visiting families come together to celebrate learning and the importance of child rights.

We look forward to the culminating J-Term Showcase on June 19, where we can celebrate this amazing school year together. More information on the showcase will be shared soon.

Warmly,
The Primary Division Leadership Team

Seesaw Year-End Rollover – July 5
Please note that on July 5, Seesaw will roll over to the new school year. After this date, families will no longer have access to student journals from the current year. If you would like to save your child’s work, please download their journal before this date.

2025-2026 Registration Checklist Reminder
To ensure a smooth start to the new academic year, we kindly remind all families to review and update your family contact information as needed. A completed checklist is required for each student if you have more than one child enrolled at Avenues. We appreciate your continued partnership.

School Bus Service for 2025–2026 | Registration now open
We are now collecting intentions for the 2025–2026 school year bus service. If your child is aged 3 or above and you plan to participate in the bus service, kindly submit the registration form by June 20.

Your response will help us refine our routes and better accommodate each family’s needs. We look forward to providing a safe and caring transportation experience for your child in the new school year.

Picture Day Photos Order
The yearbook photos taken on campus in March—including class and individual portrait photos—will be used in the production of this year’s school yearbook. A printed copy of the yearbook will be distributed to each student’s family at the end of the school year.

In addition, parents now have the option to purchase student photos directly from the photography team online. The photos taken at school are now available for viewing and purchase.

How to Purchase Online:
1. Please scan the QR code in the “Ordering Guide” by using WeChat, or search for the mini program “大卫校园影像”.
2. Then, enter your child’s English name (e.g., Sam Wang) and date of birth to view the photos.

If you're unable to access the photos, please contact your division’s Operations Manager for help.

Health Office Friendly Reminder
Recently, there has been a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the wider community. To strengthen the health defenses of our campus, the Health Office kindly reminds you and your child to stay mindful of your health.

Daily Protection Measures:

  • Wear masks properly in crowded places, wash hands frequently, ventilate rooms regularly, and avoid gatherings.
  • Monitor your child’s temperature and overall health. If symptoms such as sore throat, fatigue, or fever appear, please keep your child at home for observation and test promptly (antigen/PCR), and delay their return to school.

If your child is diagnosed with COVID-19, please ensure they rest and recover at home and inform the Health Office. To prevent cross-infection, students may only return to school after at least 3 days of illness with a negative nucleic acid or antigen test, or 7 days after onset of symptoms.

Promote Health Awareness

  • Encourage a balanced diet, regular sleep routines, and appropriate physical activity for your child. Avoid excessive fatigue.

Support Campus Prevention Measures

  • If your child is diagnosed, is a close contact, or lives with someone who has tested positive, please contact the Health Office immediately.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us.

Severe Weather Response Guide
With the arrival of summer, the frequency of extreme weather increases. According to the government guidance documents, all schools in the city, regardless of region, will cancel school in the event that the municipal meteorological observatory in any area of the city issues the following meteorological disaster warning signals:

  • Yellow Warning Signal of Typhoon
  • Orange Warning Signal of Typhoon
  • Red Warning Signal of Typhoon
  • Red Warning Signal of Rainstorm
  • Red Warning Signal of Gale

If the above warning is issued before students have arrived at school, students should not come to school and should stay in a safe place. If the warning is issued during the school day, we will ensure all students are safe (including students on the school bus) until the warning signal is lifted.

Please click on the link below to get familiar with the severe weather response guide.
