Primary Division Updates

Dear Primary Division Families,

This week’s WAM Slam was a powerful reflection of our learning community—where courage, perseverance, and mutual support come together. Both on the field and in the classroom, students are encouraged to take risks while uplifting one another. In fact, two Avenues World Elements that may seem contradictory—confidence and humility—are both essential for fostering a balanced learning environment.

Through collaborative learning, students continuously navigate between leading and following. They develop confidence by expressing their own perspectives and humility by receiving feedback and refining their ideas. This dynamic interplay is what makes collaboration meaningful. A 2014 Stanford study found that individuals working in a collaborative setting are 50% more effective in completing tasks, intrinsically motivated, and engaged in their work.

Here are some reflective questions to discuss with your child about their collaborative experiences:

  • Who did you learn with today?
  • How did you contribute to someone’s learning journey? How did a peer support you?
  • Did you disagree with someone at school today? How did you express your thoughts?

Encouraging students to reflect on their role in collaborative learning communities helps them recognize their strengths and make meaningful adjustments.

Warmly,

The Primary Division Leadership Team

Divisional Field Trip: Adventure awaits!

We are excited to inform you that the autumn outing originally scheduled for last semester has finally been confirmed for next Friday, March 7! Specialist Office Hours

To enhance the connection between families and our specialists, the Primary Division will introduce office hours for specialists. You can book a 20-minute time slot within the next week to discuss your child’s growth and progress with our specialists.

Please ensure you arrive on time for your appointment to respect the schedules of the families following yours. Kindly note that specialists cannot extend ‘Office Hours’ beyond the allocated time to avoid conflicts with their teaching responsibilities. Meetings will take place at various locations, so please review your appointment details carefully to confirm the correct venue.

The form is open for sign up from 14:00 Friday to 23:59 Sunday every week for the reservations.

Sign Up for the Upcoming TOEFL Jr. English Assessment

Avenues Shenzhen will be hosting the next TOEFL Jr. English Assessment on campus Saturday, March 22.

Please note that the TOEFL Junior test is mainly aimed at junior high school students. Given that there is a significant difference in English proficiency between lower-grade primary school students and junior high school students, this test may not be a suitable option for lower-grade primary school students.

If you would like your child to sign up for the assessment, please feel free to follow the link below. Likewise, if you know of any families who might be interested, feel free to pass this link along.
