We are so excited for the WAM SLAM that will take place next week! It will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, engage in physical activity and cheer each other on!

Primary Division Leadership Team 

Specialist Office Hours 

To enhance the connection between families and our specialists, the Primary Division will introduce office hours for specialists. You can book a 20-minute time slot within the next week to discuss your child’s growth and progress with our specialists. 
 
Please ensure you arrive on time for your appointment to respect the schedules of the families following yours. Kindly note that specialists cannot extend ‘Office Hours’ beyond the allocated time to avoid conflicts with their teaching responsibilities. Meetings will take place at various locations, so please review your appointment details carefully to confirm the correct venue. 

The form is open for sign up from 14:00 Friday to 23:59 Sunday every week for the reservations.

SASMO Coming Up in April 
We cordially invite you to register your child for the Singapore & Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO), taking place in April 2025! Established in 2006, SASMO is one of the largest international math competitions in the world. To date, over 500,000 participants from more than 12,000 schools across 40 countries and regions have taken part in this prestigious event.

 

Languages: Chinese and English 
Competition Date: Mid-April 2025 
Registration Deadline: March 10, 2025 
Venue: Avenues Primary Building A19

Sign Up for the Upcoming TOEFL Jr. English Assessment

Avenues Shenzhen will be hosting the next TOEFL Jr. English Assessment on campus Saturday, March 22. If you would like your child to sign up for the assessment, please feel free to follow the link below. Upcoming Events

Avenues 2nd Annual School Sports Festival – Coming Soon! 

On Wednesday, February 26, the Avenues community will gather for an exciting day of athletic fun and energy at our 2nd Avenues WAM SLAM. We look forward to a day filled with sportsmanship and spirited competition.

Event Schedule: 

  • Early Learning Center (ELC): 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. 
  • Primary Division: 8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. 
  • Secondary Division: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

 

Venue: 
Shenzhen University Town Sports Center 
2032 Liuxian Avenue, Nanshan District, Shenzhen 

 

To ensure the best experience for all participants—students, teachers, and parents—please carefully review the following important event details: 

 

  • Arrival: Students should not come to school on event day. Please arrive directly at the Shenzhen University Town Sports Center by 8:00 a.m.. Parents of ELC students are required to accompany their children, as ELC school buses will not be in operation. School buses for primary and secondary students will run as usual, transporting them directly to the sports center. 
  • Venue Access: All vehicles and pedestrians should enter through the South Gate of the Shenzhen University Town Sports Center. Families driving should set their navigation to 2032 Liuxian Avenue, Shenzhen University Town Sports Center (South Gate). Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis within the venue. 
  • Vehicle Registration: All vehicles must register in advance through the “深圳大学城校园服务” (Shenzhen University Town Campus Services) WeChat public account. The registration process is as follows: 
      1. Search for “深圳大学城校园服务” (Shenzhen University Town Campus Services) on WeChat
      2. Under the Campus Services section, select “Entry Registration”
      3. Click “Go to Registration” and complete the required details. 
  • Sportswear: Students will receive their sportswear next week. Please remind students to wear their sportswear to the sports center on event day. Parents can also pick up sportswear at the event check-in, subject to availability (first-come, first-served). 
  • Water and Snacks: Drinking water will be available on-site (please bring your own water bottle). Light snacks will be provided. To ensure students stay energized, we recommend a hearty breakfast at home. For hygiene and food safety, please do not bring snacks to the event. 
  • Schedule for Activities:
    • ELC: Activities end at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and class 
    • Primary Division: Activities end at 11:45 a.m., followed by lunch and class 
    • Secondary Division: Activities run until 2:00 p.m., with lunch (sandwiches) provided on-site for both teachers and students.

Campus Updates

Avenues Community Connections | How to help kids recognize and manage stress? 

Time: 8:30–10:00 a.m., February 25 

Venue: 3F, A12

Join us for an upcoming ACC session on "Recognizing and Managing Stress," open to the full community and designed specifically for parents of middle and high school students. We will draw insights from The Anxious Generation, among other sources, to explore the importance of understanding stress in our children’s lives for both positive and negative repercussions. We’ll discuss the difference between positive and negative stress, and how various factors—like social media, academic pressure, and home life—contribute to their anxiety.

Through interactive activities, such as emotional reaction exercises and peer pressure role-plays, you’ll gain firsthand experience of the challenges your children face. We’ll also share effective coping strategies for both students and parents, focusing on time management, healthy lifestyle choices, and creating a supportive home environment. 

Parenting Workshop Series: A Family Life Cycle Perspective 

This week, we successfully held the first workshop for families with children aged 1.5-3. Below is a summary of strategies for parents with children aged 0-3 from a family life cycle perspective. For more detailed information, please refer to the "0-3 Parenting Strategies from Family Life Cycle Perspective" document.

Next Wednesday, we will host another session for parents of children aged 4-6 in the ELC. A notice has already been sent to registered parents via email, and we will send a follow-up reminder through WeChat “School Notifications” next Monday and Tuesday. Due to limited availability, we will also share these strategies in next week’s family bulletin.

Course Overview: 

Avenues Beginning Program helps parents better understand their child's developmental needs while fostering early learning through play. With engaging activities, we explore the key stages and milestones of early childhood development, empowering parents to make informed choices. Our curriculum emphasizes the role of play in supporting cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Sensory play experiences, fine and gross motor skill development, and language growth are all integral parts of the program. Through strengthening the parent-child relationship and creating a supportive environment, we aim to provide a joyful learning experience that nurtures growth and cultivates a lifelong love of learning. 

Celebrating Achievements

Xiaoyan School of Art Charity Art Sale – A Great Success! 

At the close of last semester, students from the Xiaoyan School of Art’s after-school program channeled their creativity into a meaningful cause. Through a charity sale of their original art derivatives, they raised a total of 855.87 RMB.

 

This generous donation, brimming with love and hope, will fund a semester of poetry classes for 34 children in the remote mountains.

 

"Small streams converge to form rivers and seas." We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the families who contributed their love and support, helping to ignite a beacon of hope for these children in need. 

Avenues Parent Association

Avenues Parent-Child Choir Now Open for New Members! 

This session will run every Friday from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., with a total of 11 classes.
 

Instructor: Mr. Danny (Music Teacher, Primary Division) 

Course Content: Vocal techniques, singing skills, basic music theory, harmony exercises, and more. 

Total Course Fee: 550 RMB per person
