Kindergarten Updates
Dear ELC Families,
As spring break approaches, many children have excitedly shared their vacation plans. We are reminded of the profound impact that immersing ourselves in different cultures can have on our children’s growth and development—a principle deeply embedded in our Avenues World Elements curriculum. Our AWE Study Abroad Learning Experience shares this Reflection from MIT professor, Edgar Schein:
As the world becomes more culturally diverse, nothing is more important than to experience other cultures and discover how many ways humans have discovered to live. Most of my important lessons about life have come from recognizing how others from a different culture view things.
Although our youngest learners do not yet have the opportunity for formal study abroad, the enriching lessons of immersive cultural exploration can also be embraced through family travel and outings during spring break. We encourage you to make the most of your journeys by immersing your child in the local culture wherever you may go. Traveling with intention not only broadens children's horizons but also nurtures empathy, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the diverse country, and world, we live in.
Embrace the chance to live like a local, observe everyday customs, and participate in authentic cultural experiences. Even small moments will have a lasting impact on your child’s development. By engaging with the community and reflecting on the similarities and differences between your experiences at home and those abroad, you can help foster a spirit of open-mindedness and lifelong learning.
We look forward to hearing about the insights and stories your family gathers over the break. May your travels be filled with joy, discovery, and meaningful connections that inspire learning and enrich your family life.
Warmly,
The ELC Leadership Team

The workshop garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback. Responding to parental requests, we're planning an additional session in April. This session will concentrate on the same theme, targeting parents of children aged 7 - 9. A sign - up link will be published in the weekly bulletin one week prior. Preference will be given to parents who missed out on previous sign - ups.
