Dear Avenues Families,

At our school, we often talk about academic excellence, but we believe that true success is not only built on academic rigor. True success is built on a much stronger, more vibrant foundation: the holistic wellbeing of every single student. We see our students not just as learners, but as individuals with beating hearts, curious minds, and a deep need for connection. This belief is the thread that weaves through every aspect of their journey at Avenues.

A Foundation for Life
Think of a tree. For it to reach skyward, its roots must be deep and strong. Our student wellbeing program is that root system. It’s the intentional, caring environment that allows our students to stand tall, weather challenges, and truly flourish. From mindfulness practices that help manage the nuances of school life to social-emotional learning woven into the curriculum, we are committed to equipping our students with the tools they need for resilience, empathy, and self-awareness. After all, a happy, healthy child is a child ready to conquer the world.

The Power of Connection:Our Secondary Mentorship Program

Navigating the adolescent years can feel like an exciting, but sometimes daunting, adventure. That’s why we’ve proudly launched our Secondary Division Mentorship Program. This initiative pairs each student with a dedicated faculty mentor, creating a trusted "go-to" person for guidance, support, and a friendly chat. It’s about ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and valued as they navigate academic choices, friendships, and personal growth. These connections are the safety nets that give our students the confidence to soar.

A Team for Every Dream: The Thrill of Athletics
And soar they do — especially on the court, on the field, and in the pool! Our athletics program is a dynamic mix of energy, teamwork, and school spirit. We believe in fostering not just physical health but also invaluable lessons in collaboration, discipline, and sportsmanship across our 23 competitive sports team covering Grades 3 though 12.

This commitment to athletic excellence is shining especially bright this weekend! Our school is buzzing with excitement as we host the NESSIC Bilingual Schools U19 Volleyball Tournament. We are thrilled to welcome nine schools from across China to our campus for a spectacular display of skill, camaraderie, and friendly competition. Our very own teams have been practicing with incredible passion, and we can’t wait to see them represent our school community with pride and spirit. Come on down and help us fill the stands with cheers!

Together, We Thrive
From the quiet, supportive conversations in our mentorship sessions to the roaring energy in our gymnasium, our vision is clear: to cultivate an environment where every student feels they belong. Thank you for being our partners in this essential work. Here’s to building a community where our children have the foundation and robust roots to thrive in life.

Warmly,

Bing Han
Director of Student Wellbeing

❤️Thanksgiving Reading Gathering — Call for Participants! ❤️

Dear members of the Avenues community,

Do you have a passage that has always touched your heart — something you’ve wanted to share with others?

The APA is organizing a special Thanksgiving Reading Gathering, and we warmly invite you to join us!

🎙️ How to Participate: Just share — no worries needed!

1. About what to share: We’ll help you choose!
There’s no theme restriction — feel free to pick any piece of writing that moves you: a poem, an essay, a story excerpt, or even a letter. (We’ll do a light content review.)

Not sure what to choose? No problem! If you’re undecided, come talk to us. The APA team will prepare a selection of suggested readings and can also help you find something that fits your style and ideas perfectly — one on one.

2. About reading skills: We’ll practice together!

No experience? Even better! This event is all about sharing, not performing. What matters most is your willingness to express and connect, not professional delivery.

Practice sessions are ready!
To help everyone feel more confident, we’ll host some relaxed reading practice sessions over the next two weeks. We’re not chasing “perfection” — just helping you discover the most comfortable and natural way to express your emotions through words.

So please, let go of any hesitation!

This isn’t a competition — it’s a heartfelt moment to sit together and share before Thanksgiving. We can’t wait to see each person’s unique voice shine.

Join us, take the stage, and let us have the joy of listening to you!
