Dear Avenues Families,
We are excited to launch another year of J‑Term—Avenues Shenzhen’s signature program for deep, transformative learning beyond the classroom.
In 2026, students will engage with the world locally, across China, and internationally through four program types:
Campus Exchange
When: March (Primary Division) and June (Secondary Division) 2026
Campus Exchange offers students and families the opportunity to travel to an Avenues partner campus for an immersive learning and cultural experience. Each participating student must be accompanied by a parent/guardian (family travel is welcome). While students are in school, parents can join social and cultural activities arranged by the host campus.
Primary Division — March 2–19, 2026 (Call to Action)
Primary Division students will join Avenues New York for a thoughtfully designed, project-based program. Families from New York will also visit Shenzhen during this period.
We are now collecting expressions of interest (EOI) for the March program through Wednesday, November 19. Submitting an EOI is not a commitment—it helps us understand interest to match a limited capacity.
💡The Expression of Interest (EOI) form for the Primary Division’s campus exchange program will be shared later. Please stay tuned to the school’s WeChat notifications.
Secondary Division — June 2026
Secondary Division students will exchange seats with Avenues New York peers for their J-Term. Program details (schedule, content, application steps) will be shared in January.
Global Journeys (G6-12) — June 2026
Secondary Division students will embark on carefully curated international journeys led by Avenues faculty. These experiences foster cultural immersion, language growth, and authentic community engagement.
Destinations, costs, and application timelines will be announced in January.
Local Journeys (G4–5) — June 2026
Building on last year’s success, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students will travel within China (outside Guangdong) for meaningful real-world learning experiences. Students partner with local organizations and communities to address real-world challenges while developing empathy, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Destination, costs, and application timelines will be announced in January.
Co-Lab (Shenzhen) — June 2026
Students remaining in Shenzhen will participate in special projects that address global-scale projects and collaborate with visiting Campus Exchange students to explore global issues through a local lens.
What’s Next
If you have any questions, please reach out to the J-Term team (jterm-sz@avenueschina.cn). We look forward to the growth and meaningful connections our students will build through these experiences.

Important Reminders
Sign-Up | Meal Tasting
To provide children with more nutritious and delicious meals, the school will regularly hold Parent Tasting Events. During these events, we will introduce the Avenues FOOD Program. You will be able to try new dishes that are about to be launched and share your feedback with the kitchen team for improvements.
At last year’s tasting events, we received many constructive comments from parents, which laid a solid foundation for adjusting and improving our dining program. We sincerely thank the APA Dining Committee and all participating parents for their valuable opinions and feedback.
Based on the feedback from last semester, we had successfully organized the Early Learning Center and the Primary and Secondary Divisions food tastes.
Third Food Tasting Event is for the whole campus:
Please click the link below to register. After the registration deadline, we will confirm the details of your participation.
Community Resources
Share Your Story|How a Moment Shaped Your Path
Dear Avenues Community Members,
Our Grade 11 students are embarking on a fascinating interdisciplinary unit, "Where Molecules Meet Memories." In this unit, they are learning to see the world through a dual lens: exploring how the microscopic world shape the macroscopic world and tell stories about our lives, heritage, and environment, and how single objective scientific reality generate infinite subjective human experiences.
To help them see the human connection, we would love your help!
We are inviting adults in our community to share a brief story about a personal experience that sparked your current career, profession, or passion.
Did a specific moment, a conversation, or a seemingly small event in your life set you on the path you're on today? By sharing your story, you will:
How you can contribute:
Please submit your video or letter to Ms. Emma via email at emma.ge@avenueschina.cn by November 21.
Your story, no matter how simple it seems, has the power to illuminate the connection between life's moments and life's work. Thank you for considering supporting our next generation.
Warmly,
Ms.Emma
