The 2024-25 School Calendar Updates
Following the national holiday changes for Labor Day, May 2 is an additional day off, and the Labor Day break is from May 1 to May 2. Students will return to school on May 5.
Kindergarten Updates
Dear Families,
Thank you to all the families who joined us this week for our WAM SLAM event! It was wonderful to see so many of you come together and celebrate the joy and importance of physical wellness.
At Avenues, we strongly believe that physical wellness is key to setting a strong foundation for our students. Movement supports not only physical health but also plays a vital role in emotional development. Physical activity in early childhood helps build essential brain connections, improve focus, and boost mood. Whether through structured activities or spontaneous play, every moment of movement is an investment in our students’ growth.
By engaging in physical activity, children develop coordination, confidence, and resilience. These are critical skills that support their ability to approach challenges with a positive mindset. As we nurture their growth, we help them become “emotionally unafraid and physically fit,” an essential part of our mission. Through our intentional WAM programming and the incorporation of movement throughout the day, we provide our students with the tools to interact with the world in confident and meaningful ways.

Grade K Chaoshan Overnight Field Trip Parent Info Session
This March, we are thrilled to invite you on our grade-level peak experience: an overnight trip to the beautiful Guangdong Chaoshan Area. Angela and Ryan first launched this adventure in 2019 with our inaugural kindergarten class, and the memories we created together as a community have continued to bring smiles and warmth to our hearts.
To share more details and answer any questions you may have, we invite you to a parent information session on Monday, March 3, at 8:30 a.m. at F3, A12. Your presence would mean the world to us as we embark on this exciting journey together!

Avenues Explorers After-school Activity Feedback
In order to help our parents visualize what your child is learning in the program, the after-school teachers will upload the class feedback at least every two weeks. You can view the course feedback to see how your child is doing in the program. The Explorer Program for the Kindergarten has been running for three weeks, and there are still available spots in several high-quality courses. You are welcome to register using the following method:

Parenting Workshop Series: A Family Life Cycle Perspective
This week, we successfully held the second workshop for families with children aged 4-6. Below is a summary of strategies for parents with children aged 4-6 from a family life cycle perspective. For more detailed information, please refer to the "4-6 Parenting Strategies from Family Life Cycle Perspective" document.
Next week, we will have another session for parents with children aged 7-9. Since enrollment is full, we will share relevant parenting strategies for your consideration on next week's bulletin board. Parents who have enrolled will receive an email reminder this Friday and a WeChat home and school notification next week.

Avenues Beginning Program helps parents better understand their child's developmental needs while fostering early learning through play. Sensory play experiences, fine and gross motor skill development, and language growth are all integral parts of the program. On March 22, we’ll be hosting a Parent Information Session to prospective families interested in learning more about Avenues Shenzhen. The event provides great opportunities to understand the school, the curriculum, the campus and to communicate with the leadership team. Feel free to extend this invitation to friends and families who may be interested in becoming part of our community!

Avenues Parent Association (APA)
WAM SLAM Charity Sale
With the generous support of our parents, the WAM SLAM charity sale has raised a total of 1,568.25 RMB in donations.
Details:
- Total sales: 4,047 RMB
- Sales from the online gift shop: 3,305 RMB
- 75% of the online sales (2,478.75 RMB) will be paid to suppliers as production costs.
- 25% of the online sales (826.25 RMB) will be donated.
- School-owned inventory items were donated at 100% of their sale price, contributing 742 RMB to the total donations.
The charity sale is still ongoing and will continue until March 14. The funds raised will be used to purchase sports equipment, which will be donated to Wuzhi Primary School in Fubin Town, Raoping County, Chaozhou. On March 20, kindergarten students will represent the Avenues community in delivering these supplies.

Women's Day Parent Salon
Time: 1:30 - 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 7
Location: A12 Parent Café
To celebrate Women's Day, we will be hosting a special Women's Parent Salon next Friday. Through this gathering, we invite everyone to share their stories, memories, and dreams, and to enjoy a warm and beautiful time together. Do you still remember the dreams you had when you were young? Who is your hero? What is your life’s passion? Let’s take a moment on this special day to reflect on the warm moments that belong to women.
This event is limited to 30 seats, exclusively for female parents of Avenues. If you are interested, please click the link below to register. To enhance interaction and surprise, each participant is asked to bring a small gift to exchange with others. The gift doesn’t need to be expensive—maybe a book, a small trinket, or something you love and would like to share. Through this small gesture, we will all experience warmth and care.
