Secondary Division Updates

Avenues Community Connections (ACC): How to cultivate students' growth mindset?

8:30-10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 17 | A19 MPR | Presenter: Ms. Xuefei Zheng

The ability to continuously learn and adapt is crucial for a child's growth and development. In this ACC, through real-life cases and interactive discussions, we will share strategies and tools to help parents support the development of a growth mindset in their children, thereby promoting their long-term success and happiness. We look forward to discussing with you how to inspire children's potential.

Dress Code Reminder

A friendly reminder that all students are expected to adhere to our Secondary Division style guide

“Our style guide builds a sense of belonging by making our students easily recognizable to each other and other members of our community. It also reinforces that school is a place for purposeful, active, and collaborative endeavor, and our students pledge to dress in accordance with these goals. Accordingly, students should not wear clothes that are excessively short, sheer or ripped. We also encourage students to avoid wearing excessively expensive items, which are not conducive to an inclusive and welcoming environment. We ask students to take pride in their appearance as representatives of the Avenues community.”

Also, over the course of the first semester, we have accumulated a collection of lost items and clothing, which are always placed at the rack at the front door of A8. If your child has lost items, especially any warm clothing, please encourage them to check the rack and retrieve it before the Winter Break. Any Avenues-branded gear will be held onto for our family exchange, while non-Avenues logo clothes will be donated to families in need.

Upcoming Events

Open.Scholar: The Mystery of Integrated Circuits

5:00-6:15 p.m., Wednesday, December 18 | A19, First Floor, MPR

What can you tell me about computer chips? With technology advancing so quickly, chips are everywhere. But what's behind how they work, how they're made, and how the industry is evolving? On December 18, Mr. Huang Mian, a parent at Avenues Shenzhen and a research associate at the Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, will take you on a deep dive into the world of chips. He'll discuss the latest in chip design, manufacturing, and applications. Mr. Huang will bring chip samples, giving attendees a chance to get hands-on and share insights.

The Speaker: Huang Mian

Mr. Huang is an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the founder of Shenzhen Zhongke Sihe Technology Co., Ltd. He was the first globally to propose the use of chip embedded technology for board-level fan-out integrated packaging in the power chip field and to achieve industrialization. He has built China's first board-level fan-out integrated packaging production line for power chips, overcoming key technologies such as high power, high heat dissipation, and low parasitic parameter board-level fan-out packaging. He has been granted a total of 21 invention patents (including one US patent) and has authored one professional book.
