ELC Updates

Dear ELC Families,

The last month of 2024 has arrived, which also happens to be one of the busiest and most hectic times in the school calendar. We are gearing up for the culmination of this semester's learning achievements with our COL (Celebration of Learning).

The intention behind the COL is for children to share and celebrate recent explorations in thematic learning with parents through project presentations and interactive experiences. To better facilitate your engagement at the event, here are some tips to keep in mind about the goal for the event:

  • It is to focus on the entire learning process, not just the final outcomes.
  • It focuses on the collective and individualized learning journey, honoring each child’s unique contributions.
  • It is to encourage children to take the lead, rather than conforming to the adults’ wishes and demands.
  • It centers on our children, listening to their voices, instead of seeking information from teachers.
  • It highlights the thoughts, interests, and characteristics of our children, rather than uniformity in their work.
  • It promotes and appreciates the efforts and progress of our children, rather than comparing their work.

We eagerly anticipate the presence and participation of all parents. Please take note of the dates to ensure you can make time to attend your child’s class event.

Upcoming Events

Open.Ed: The Meaning of Being a Parent
2:30–4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12 | A19, First Floor, MPR

Parenting is one of the most profound and challenging roles in life. But what does it truly mean to be a parent? In this engaging talk, we’ll explore how communication, mutual respect, and a strong, loving family bond create the best environment for children to flourish.

Through open dialogue, thought-provoking questions, and practical insights, this session invites you to reflect on how your relationship with your child shapes their confidence, resilience, and ability to navigate the world. Discover how fostering mutual respect and building a connection rooted in love not only strengthens your family but also gives your child the courage to explore their individuality and dreams.

Join us as we unpack what it takes to prepare children for an uncertain future—not by controlling their paths but by guiding them with care, trust, and support. Together, we’ll reimagine what it means to parent with purpose and create a home where every child feels seen, heard, and ready to thrive.
